Problem

Before launching our new ratings system, we were asked to provide some onboarding content to educate users on how the rating system works.

I worked with the product designer and product manager to understand the specificities of the request. We based our proposal on interviews with users, who openly shared feedback on the old rating system.

Proposed solution

Title: we went for a simple title that was straight to the point.

Description: there was a lot of information that we needed to include. We worked with the legal team to determine the things that were non-negotiable from a legal point of view. This meant that the modal couldn't be very small, since it had to contain certain bits of essential information. I edited the initial version to eliminate jargon and to make the language simpler. I also introduced the use of bullet points to make it read easier, so that the user could quickly get a grasp of the most important information.

Challenges

There were certain limitations imposed by legal requirements, which meant that the content had to be adapted to include specific information.
