Ad description bottom sheet

Project

Online vehicle selling and buying platform

Problem

User research showed us that car buyers look to an ad's description to find important information about the vehicle. Often, sellers don't see much value in the description, and fill it in with stock content about their company with very few useful details.

We wanted to find a way help sellers see the value in having a complete description on their ads, by giving them hints on the type of information buyers are usually looking out for.

I joined this effort during the design phase, when the product designer was working on drafts for a prototype of a bottom sheet that would guide the seller during the ad creation stage.

Proposed solution

Title: I made the title more direct. It's important that sellers understand why they should have a more complete description, and that this will in turn lead to more interested buyers.

Description: terms like "measuring" and "description completeness" may be hard to grasp. I simplified this message and also gave an introduction to what the bullet points below mean. In the initial version, there was no clear definition of that.

Bullet points: here, I made a suggestion in terms of the visual design. The initial version used checkmarks to identify the items which the seller still needed to include, and dashes (greyed out) to what they already successfully included. Since checkmarks are usually associated with items that are done, I suggested using instead a flag icon to mark the items that still needed to be done, and the checkmark for the items that were included. The product designer agreed and implemented this change.

I also edited the content to make it more user-friendly and included some simple examples to guide the user.
